If you take a walk through the halls of Wylie Primary School in Henderson, you may see some men attending classes with the children. It’s part of a world-wide program called Watch D.O.G.S. where male family members go to schools to serve as role models for the students.
Fathers, grandfathers, and uncles of children who attend the school are volunteering to serve as role models.
Steve Higginbotham comes once a week.
“A lot of those kids don’t have a male influence at home and they come to me and they ask me questions that maybe they don’t have another male to ask,” Higginbotham said.
