Students at Western Hills Elementary School come and go under the watchful eyes of their classmates’ fathers, thanks to a volunteer program called Watch D.O.G.S.
Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is a program run by the National Center for Fathering. According to the organization’s website, the program has two goals: one, providing positive male role models to students, and two, enhancing school security and reducing bullying by providing extra eyes and ears around campuses.
On Friday, the Watch D.O.G.S. co-sponsored a “Donuts with Dads” breakfast with the PTO. Principal Kathy Cook said the event was a great success.
