Ask Carey Video: When You Didn’t Have a Positive Fathering Example

The Championship Fathering blog by Carey Casey

This is the first of a new video series we’re starting here on my blog. We’re calling it Ask Carey, where I’ll be responding to questions from our readers and followers.

Our first question is: How can I be a good dad when I didn’t have a positive example of it? Here is my response:

So who stepped in as a role model or father figure in your life? Tweet this! What are some key principles or skills you learned from him? Share your experiences and insights either below or at our Facebook page.

Action Points

  • If you haven’t had a strong fathering role model, don’t give up. Read books and blogs and soak in all the good fathering information you can find. And keep looking for an older man who could be a mentor or example for you.
  • Invest yourself in other young people and younger dads around you. Although you aren’t perfect, you have a lot to give.

Do you have a question for Carey to address? Leave a message on our Facebook page or use #AskCarey on Twitter.
